First of hopefully many more to come...

Today was the final day of Mattias’ first hockey tournament ever.  He and his teammates played really well.  It is exciting to see how much they have improved since February as a team and how much more they will improve over the rest of the season.  Today was a great day for ALL of the Titan teams. They all took 1st place.  The U8, U10, U12 in OT, U14 and U16 in OT shootout.

The coaches have put in a great effort in making sure the kids were ready.  There were a couple of teams from Bend, a couple from Bainbridge and a couple from Canada playing the kids.  The best part is that only one coach gets paid the rest do it as a volunteer and it is so nice see all the hard work and dedication each coach puts into each kid.  Here are a couple of pictures of the Boo with his teammates before the game and with his medal at the end of the game.

Exhausted...but it was worth it!

This is day two of Mattias' first hockey tournament every. His opening game was last night, it is very cute and exciting when you see your son and kids around his age, who are just learning the sport or how tournaments start.  He is playing for the U8 Titans a local team out in Beaverton.

When he played the game opener game last night, believe it or not, he scored the first goal of the game and of the whole tournament for his team.  He was very excited about that.  He really skates well for a 7 year old and he definitely holds his own out there.  He also and two assist last night.  For those of you who don’t know hockey that is when he passes the puck to someone else who score the goal.

Today, we saw the same hard work and determination in his playing skills, though he didn’t score any goals today, he usually plays defenseman, he still had two assist today.  His team is playing against the Titans U10 team.  We won last night 8-5 and today we lost 5-8.  I thought that it was very interesting that the score was the same both games the visiting team won.

Tomorrow is the last day of the tournament they play in the championship game.  Even though they only have one game, we will be staying to support the other Titan teams, which will be exciting.  The Titan’s organization is run very well by a husband and wife and they have hired some really great staff too.  The parents are a lot of fun to hang out with to and it’s perfect for Kristin, because there are many little girls her age that she runs around and plays hard throughout the tournament.  Hockey is such a fun and exciting sport and can’t wait to see how he progresses over the rest of this season and next year!

Life is always the best at the craziest times

Well even though this is my first blog on this site, I wanted to share a little bit about the craziest things in my life. My sons, Mattias is now 7, and believe or not he has met and has gone far past the expectations of the first grade reading level according to his last report card. As a parent that is very exciting, but it doesn't really hit home until he reads to the whole family tonight the book Green Eggs & Ham by Dr. Seuss. He was reading the book flawlessly and that book is a real tongue twister at times. He has been bringing home longer books to read for homework too. I am very proud of his accomplishments in reading and how well he sounds out words. Just another fact that my little man is growing up too soon.

The second craziest thing in my life right now is coaching T-Ball for my daughter & teammates. As chaotic as it may seem, and as organized as I am, there are some days that you just have to go with the flow, especially with 4 & 5 year olds. There is always the moments were all the kids run to the ball and dog pile each other until there is a winner that emerges with the ball and other moments were one child stops the ball and throws it completely the wrong way or place. If you are my daughter and you could say several other children on the team; the dirt is the most fascinating part of the game. Let's see how much dirt I can put into my glove and dump out before the ball gets to me. And then there are the days of perfect plays where a player stops the ball and throws it to first base and they get the out.

The third craziest thing in my life right now is the fact that my 7 year old has his first hockey tournament this Memorial weekend.  Unfortunately they will be playing against each other the whole time because the other team had to cancel, but it will still be a good experience for him.  He loves this sport.  He plays it now stop even at home.  He probably even dreams about it.  My husband says almost daily that Mattias has the head of a hockey player and understand the game really well.  Good Luck Little Man!
